Memorial Day Bloghop

MemDay2013BlogBanner

I am very excited to once again participate in the Memorial Day Weekend bloghop for Operation Write Home.  For those of you who are hopping for the first time, Operation Write Home is an organization that collects handmade cards for our troops overseas.  In turn, our troops use the cards that we make to send to their loved ones.  Pretty neat, eh?  I love being a part of this group of card makers because it's just a minor way for all of us to give back to those who protect our country.

I have provided two cards for today's hop.  They are both very different from each other!  Each card was made using a sketch provided by OWH.  If you haven't already visited their website, it is chalk-full of information and card inspiration!

Sketch Challenge #158

I decided to go with a nautical theme for this thank you card.  I love the vibrant colors!

I used a lot of embellishments on this card including chocolate bakers twine, a copper mini brad, and burlap ribbon (which is tucked behind the sentiment.)

Of course, I couldn't forget the inside of the card!  I added a small red canvas sticker to the right hand side of the card.  I also completed the sentiment from the front cover.

 Sketch Challenge #132

When I saw this card sketch, I decided to play around with the layout a bit and flip things around.  Instead of a piece of cardstock for the band, I used bakers twine.  The card itself is very simple and to the point.  I added a small button as an embellishment, as well.

Thank you so much for visiting my blog today!  I hope you enjoyed viewing my cards!  May you all have a safe and relaxing Memorial Day weekend.  Please take some time to reflect on the courageous efforts so many men and women have made and continue to make to protect the United States.  We certainly live in a wonderful country!
